How Much Travel Makeup Should I Pack?
Well, if you are reading this, we are then on the same boat. We wish we could bring our entire collection just to make sure we have the right shade of red or we have enough transition colors for our smoky eye. But when you are traveling, this could be complicated.
My travel trick is:
Get a small makeup bag and bring only what you can fit in the bag. This is why I’m such a sucker for samples, small compact, and travel friendly makeup. We could easily over pack makeup and most of the time we don’t end up using half of the things we bring. That extra shade of black? We don’t need it. They wind up taking space and adding unnecessary weight. Just keep in mind how much fun it would be to drag a heavy luggage through cobble stone. This reminds me, I will soon have a post on how to travel with just a carry on like a pro.
Before traveling with any makeup, I try them for days before they get my seal of approval. I also try different looks to make sure they will work together when I’m traveling. These items, I have tested for longevity, portability, and versatility.
Longevity: Will I still look camera ready after 8 hours without retouching? Ok maybe not after 8 hours. Nobody looks camera ready after roaming around for more than 8 hours unless you are Daenerys Targaryen, she looks great even after emerging from the ashes
Portability: Is it small enough to fit in my makeup bag? We don’t need to bring a full eye shadow palette (So, no NAKED 1, 2, or 3)
Versatility: Can I recreate day and night looks? Try recreating a look when you go out with only the few items you will be bringing on your next trip

**If you are not blessed with doll-like eyelashes and you have sad eyelashes like mine (by sad I mean they go straight down like horses’ eyelashes) this mascara will hold the curl. I have tested it in the shower, pool, and beach so it’s waterproof!
I’m still working on cutting down the items I bring with me. At least I managed to fit them all in the bag!
