What to Pack For Barcelona in September

Barcelona’s style is laid-back but chic, with locals mixing casual pieces, bright colors, and classic outfits with a pop of personality. In September, you’ll see long skirts, short skirts, shorts, and light linen pants everywhere, while summer’s heat makes jeans a no-go. This packing guide will work throughout summer till mid October.

Weather in Barcelona

September in Barcelona brings warm, comfortable days with highs around 77 to 79°F and cooler nights near 65 to 66°F. You’ll get plenty of sunshine, though clouds tend to show up more often later in the month. Rain is light and rare, with only a handful of days seeing showers. The sea stays warm at about 73 to 77°F, making it perfect for a swim.

Quick Barcelona Wear Guide:

  • Daytime: Warm and pleasant. Ppt for breezy tees, skirts, shorts, or light linen pants.

  • Evenings: Mild. bring a light layer like a thin jacket or long-sleeve shirt, especially later in the month.

  • Rain-wise: A compact umbrella or light rain shell is handy for those sporadic showers.

  • Beach: Pack swimwear. You’ll enjoy the warm water without feeling chilled.

What to Pack for Barcelona: Clothes

September in Barcelona is warm during the day, especially when you’re out exploring. To blend in with locals, go for casual but elevated. Pair a nice top with relaxed bottoms, dress up casual clothes with accessories, or balance an elegant dress with casual shoes. And don’t forget to add some colors!

Tip: Pick tops and bottoms that can be easily mixed and matched to avoid overpacking. The tops and bottoms I have selected, can be easily mixed and matched to create very different looks.

Pack comfortable shoes that you can walk all day! My recommendation is to pack two to three pairs of shoes but no more. Make sure to at least pack one pair of comfortable sneakers and one pair of flats.

Best Travel Luggage - Tried and Tested

I’ve been using Away luggage for almost ten years and have taken it all over the world. I’ve dragged it over countless cobblestones, stuffed it to the brim, and it’s still incredibly durable. The zipper holds strong, the wheels roll smoothly, and all three of my Away suitcases are still in great condition. Pair it with packing cubes to stay organized. If you are traveling with carry-on only, get the compressing packing cubes. I have the Away Carryon and the Away Medium Luggage.

For a personal bag, I recommend the Dagne Dover Landon in Medium. It fits perfectly under the seat, has a luggage sleeve that slides securely onto the Away carry-on, is super lightweight, and easy to wash. I love it so much I convinced my friend Christie, also a travel blogger, to get one. Now she takes it everywhere too. Another favorite is the Longchamp Le Pliage. It’s incredibly lightweight and holds a ton. While it doesn’t have a luggage sleeve, I simply slip the handles over my suitcase handle and it works perfectly. Honorable mention goes to the Longchamp Le Pliage L Travel Bag. I love packing it in my carry-on in case I shop and can’t fit everything in my luggage. It’s so lightweight and compact that it adds no extra weight.
