8 French Drugstore Products You’ll Be Glad You Picked Up

Provence France

I’m not a souvenir kind of gal, but one thing I do indulge in is shopping for local skincare products; and one of my favorite countries to do so is in France. On my last trip to Provence, I popped into a few pharmacies in search of my favorites skincare products and came out with a few new ones too. After putting them to the test, I have finally narrowed down my top French drugstore products that you should get on your next visit to France.

8 French drugstore products essentials that you need in your life and you can thank me later!

If you don’t want to wait for your next trip to pick up one of these French skincare products, lucky for you, you can shop them without leaving home.

There’s nothing like a fine mist of water and mineral that hydrates and soothes your skin after a long sunny day out. The Avene Thermal Spring Water works wonder on dry and irritated skin. The best part? Avene is expert at caring for sensitive skin. Get a travel-size bottle and keep it in your carry-on purse, your skin will thank you.

Avene Eau Thermale Water Spray

La Roche-Posay has a cult following for a reason, and I wished I could buy their entire skincare line but alas, here I am only selecting a few. This ultra-fine face scrub exfoliating wash purifies skin without drying it, and it’s mild enough for sensitive skin. Just what you need when you are on the go.

Ah, ask a girl who’s afraid of freckles for the best sunblock, and she will point you in the right direction. The lightweight formula is rich in antioxidant, hypoallergenic, chemical free, and it’s water resistant. The sunblock may leave a white cast, but if you need a strong sunscreen, this is the one for you.

We tent to give our skin all of our attention and neglect our lips. Enters, The La Roche-Posay Nutritic Lips Hydrating Lip Balm. The formula has a lightweight, non-greasy formula that contains Shea butter and Ceramide - which help retain moisture. The lip balm is excellent for sensitive skin and absorbs quickly into the skin, so you don’t have to worry about ultra sticky lips.

Natural oils are all the rage now, but it has been the French girls’ beauty secret for a very long time. So, it’s no surprise to find fantastic body oil even at the drugstore. The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is a mix of 6 oils and vitamin E, which nourishes the skin and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling. I don’t know about you, but I love the fact that the oil comes in a beautiful spray bottle.

Vichy Aqualina Thermal

The Vichy Rich Cream Face Moisturizer replenishes and soothes dry-skin and offers hydration up to 48 hours. The formula contains Hyaluronic Acid, which helps lock moisture in your face. If you are looking for a new moisturizer to try, this is the one. If you have oily skin, you can try the gel version.

When talking about French drugstore skincare products, the Bioderma Miscilic Water is always a given. The powerful makeup remover leaves your skin feeling non-greasy and clean. I love using the miscilic water on flights to refresh my skin so I can reapply moisturizer and makeup on a clean canvas before landing.

I’m such a big fan of Avene; I had to add it a third time to the list. This sunblock – my new favorite - has powerful anti-oxidant protection and all the good stuff as the previous one. The differences are: It’s not hypoallergenic, but it has a dry-touch formula, no white cast, and offers 24-hour hydration. And the best part is: it’s safe for the ocean! This is the perfect sunscreen to play in the water if you like to go diving and snorkeling.
