Where To Stay in Barcelona: Eixample

Eixample

Eixample is a central Barcelona neighborhood famous for its beautiful buildings, fancy shops, cool restaurants, and must-see spots like Casa Batllรณ and La Sagrada Familia. This is my favorite area in Barcelona, and I always tell friends and family to stay here - especially if you're only in Barcelona for a few days.

Tip: Eixample is the most popular area, and hotels get booked pretty fast, so donโ€™t wait too long to book your accommodation. The hotels here are on the more luxurious side. For more budget-friendly options, check out the other neighborhoods.

Where To Stay in Barcelona: The Gothic Quarter

Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic)

If you love history and pretty narrow streets, the Gothic Quarter is a great place to stay in Barcelona. This old neighborhood has medieval buildings, charming squares, and cozy cafรฉs that create a unique feel. You'll find lots of bars and restaurants, making it perfect for nightlife and eating out in Barcelona. Just know it gets pretty busy, especially at night and during tourist season. If you want somewhere quieter to stay in Barcelona, you might want to check out other neighborhoods.

Where To Stay in Barcelona: Gracia

Gracia

Just outside Barcelona city center, Grร cia has a cool, relaxed feel with a strong local vibe. This Barcelona neighborhood is known for its busy squares, artistic charm, and pretty streets with outdoor cafรฉs. Grร cia feels like a small town inside the city, where locals meet for coffee, tapas, and evening walks. While quieter than busy central Barcelona, Grร cia still has plenty of life with small shops, independent art spaces, and great restaurants and bars. It's perfect for an authentic Barcelona stay away from tourist crowds.

Calm Apartments

Where To Stay in Barcelona: Barceloneta

Barceloneta

Barceloneta is a seaside neighborhood known for its beaches, narrow streets, and vibrant waterfront. However, during the summer, it can become very crowded.

Where To Stay in Barcelona: Poble Sec

Poble Sec

Located at the bottom of Montjuic Mountain, Poble Sec is a local Barcelona neighborhood with a laid-back feel. This area has many theaters, music spots, and tasty tapas bars. Poble Sec might not be the best place to stay in Barcelona if you're only visiting for a short time, like 3 days. It's mostly a local area with fewer places to eat and drink, and since it's farther from central Barcelona, you might spend more time on buses and metros.

Where To Stay in Barcelona: Poblenou

Poblenou

Poblenou is a bit far from Barcelona's center, but this old factory area has changed into one of the city's coolest spots. I love its mix of creative places, nice cafรฉs, and blend of old and new buildings. One great thing is how close it is to Bogatell Beach, which locals like better than the busy Barceloneta. If you want a relaxed beach stay with culture and new ideas, Poblenou is great. It's becoming one of my favorite neighborhoods in Barcelona.
